How to Repair a PDF Free

Rebuild a damaged PDF in the browser, and see when the result is only a partial recovery.

What repair actually does

The tool tries three things, in order:

  1. Open the file normally and write it back out with a fresh structure.
  2. Open it again while skipping objects that will not parse.
  3. Ask the same recovery engine used for password tools to rebuild the file, then save whatever still opens.

How to read the result

  • Rebuilt successfully means the file parsed. Download it and check the pages.
  • Partially recovered means damaged objects were skipped. Pages or content may be missing. That is not a full repair, and the download name says so.
  • An error means this file cannot be recovered here. Some corruption is unrecoverable.

A password-protected PDF is not "damaged." Unlock it with Remove Password if you know the password.
